Job Description:
Entegris is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for particle analyzer and concentration monitor products in Bloomington, MN as part of the Scientific Instrument Business Unit within Entegris' Advanced Purity Solutions Division. This segment develops technologies that support design and development of the most advanced semiconductor applications in the world.
This Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the development and technical advancement of Particle Monitoring and Concentration Monitoring equipment, supporting product designs from concept through commercialization. The Mechanical Engineer should be familiar with stage-gate development and New Product Introduction at low and high volume. Expected to work with Domestic and International company resources and/or vendors to move new concepts from prototype to production.
Serve as the mechanical engineering subject matter expert for designing, specifying, maintaining, modifying, implementing and improving products, instruments, components, or systems for industrial or commercial purposes. The Mechanical Engineer will own modeling, fabrication, manufacturing processes, prototyping, and documentation necessary to fabricate and assemble.
Help conceptualize, design, build, and qualify various lab equipment, fixtures and tooling; support execution of design verification and qualification tests on complex materials, sub-assemblies, and products
Drive new or derivative products to market, will hold accountability toward data management, BOM creation, routing creation, costing
Support continuous improvement initiatives with manufacturing, including but not limited to resolving quality notifications, corrective actions, supplier capability, quality assurance, process optimization
Lead or co-lead projects related to technology development and new product introduction, from concept through release to low or high-volume manufacturing. Responsibilities include leading phase gate projects, design and concept reviews, prototyping, documentation creation, regulatory certification, design verification test, product validation and qualification, tracking of resources, scheduling, assessing risk and mitigating, estimate costs, DFMEA's
Characterize and test products to ensure specified requirements are met; oversee release to manufacturing activity by leading design verification testing, validation/qualification efforts, build and test of prototype systems
Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data, routings
Write technical reports and compiling data as evidence to support qualification of product or change to product, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or requirements
Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, new product introduction, product management, customers to maintain alignment and ensure project success
Leadership: A proven track record of leading or supporting new product launches, design improvements and technologies into manufacturing with successful market launches. Excellent written & verbal communication skills along with efficient project management skills. Ability to work effectively & respectfully in a team-based & multi-national global engineering environment. Willingness and ability to be self-motivated and work well in a fast-paced design environment.
Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, and 7+ years of directly related experience is required, advanced degree preferred, licensed as a professional engineer is a plus. Knowledge in semiconductor hardware, metrology and other equipment desired.
Experience: Ability to design, fabricate, and qualify product and equipment used in the manufacture and testing of products, hands-on experience using various machine shop tools, processes and equipment assumed. Knowledge of materials and material properties is extremely useful in the role. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will integrate all facets of design including electrical and cabling with the electrical function. Additional expectations: experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), thermal and fluid dynamics, kinematics and dynamics, dimensioning and tolerancing, and failure modes associated with mechanical design and material properties.
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge or experience in engineering design practices, solid modeling (proficient in design tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE), and creating manufacturing drawings for use in producing prototype, low volume, and high volume components with various machining, molding processes. Familiarity with various material properties and processes for plating, polishing, anodizing, finishing, inspecting. Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, Solidworks, MiniTab, Autodesk desired. Experience with SAP PLM desired.

- Compensation: $95,000 - $120,000 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
