Job Description:
- Is seeking a highly motivated and independent Contingent Instructor to facilitate competency-based learning and assessment for a diverse range of learners.
- This position requires an individual with a strong foundation in heavy equipment operation and maintenance, a deep commitment to safety, and exceptional instructional skills.
- The role involves delivering comprehensive training both in traditional classroom settings, outdoor locations or online environments, demanding a professional who can stay current with technology and industry standards with minimal direction.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional content for assigned courses, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to facilitate effective learning.
- Conduct competency-based assessments and accurately record participant learning and assessment results in the company's learning management system, ensuring participant records are consistently up to date.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and skills, including required occupational certifications and licensing, and stay current with instructional technology and delivery methods.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, including co-workers, employers, and professional organizations.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional Interpersonal and Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse groups and individuals.
- Proficiency in Equipment Operation: Comprehensive knowledge of and proficiency in operating a range of common equipment used in workshops and industrial environments, including but not limited to: Commercial tractor with trailer, overhead Hoisting Equipment, Flex Track Tractor/Dozer, Skid Steer, Forklifts, and Hand/Power Tools.
- Commitment to Safety: Possesses a proven and consistently upheld good safety record.
- This includes the ability to interpret and familiarize students with operator safety manuals, warning decals, and placards.
- A strong, personal commitment to upholding and enforcing safety standards is paramount.
- Technical Acumen: Intermediate computer skills, including the use of the internet, Microsoft Office products, and email.
- Professional Image: Conveys a professional image as a representative for VPS and its clients.
- Adaptability: Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule as required by program demands.
Required Qualifications:
- Verifiable Occupational Experience: Two (2) years, or 4,000 hours, of recent and related occupational experience outside the field of education.
- Commercial Driving Experience: Two (2) years of verifiable commercial Class-A driving experience within their classification in the last three (3) years.
- Education: An associate's degree in a related field OR a degree equivalent based on verified work experience in the occupation combined with applicable education and training.
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license that has been in continuous effect for a minimum of five (5) years immediately preceding the application.
- No record of operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license in the last five (5) years.
- Valid Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Willing to submit to background, drug, and driving record screening and to provide employment references.
