About the Position Do you have a passion for lifelong learning and continual professional development? The Maricopa County Air Quality Department is looking for a Training and Vehicle Coordinator! This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a department-wide training plan, ensuring all staff have access to the training and resources needed to perform their jobs efficiently and grow with the department. From scheduling and coordinating required training classes to researching new industry topics and trends for inclusion in the department's continuing education programs, this position will be responsible for working with each division and functional group to research and promote opportunities for staff and workforce development. This position will also be responsible for organizing and coordinating maintenance of the department's vehicle fleet, and you will contribute to our department's sustainability initiatives by managing our fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles. Your work will help ensure county resources are used wisely, while providing the tools necessary to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce. This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period. Job Contributions
Develop and manage a comprehensive departmental training program and any associated standard operating procedures (SOPs) incorporating OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and relevant county-specific requirements across the entire department, including permit engineers, performance test engineers, inspectors, compliance officers, monitoring technicians, QA/QC staff, and asbestos regulations. Oversee the logistics of the department's required training program, including arranging instructors and materials, and coordinating internal and external training courses for all employees. Manage the department's vehicle fleet by coordinating assignments, maintenance, service reservations/appointments, vehicle replacements, and evaluating vehicle use trends. Manage fuel keys distribution, charging station access, and complete annual asset verification. Develop and maintain written SOPs for departmental vehicle use. Analyze and research Samsara activity and data, and provide reports to the Director and Deputy Director weekly or as requested. Serve as the department's liaison with Equipment Services, Risk Management, and Facilities Management on all issues related to vehicles, fuel and electric vehicle charging stations; monitor all Risk Management driver reports and ensure all staff information is properly submitted and updated in Workday; monitor all Risk Management reports involving vehicles and assign training related to incidents and accidents as needed. Ensure employees have access to proper personal protective equipment (PPE), track costs, and retain records of PPE issuance. Manage and track the department's IT equipment and software licenses by coordinating with Enterprise Technology & Innovation. Administer technology hardware and software updates in database(s) per SOPs. Oversee technology hardware and software purchasing through ETI and/or department purchasing. Serve as the department's Workday Training Partner; maintain and monitor staff training records in the department database, ensuring timely completion of refresher trainings and compliance with deadlines. Research and assess current and emerging industry standards related to continuing education, certifications, licensing, and training needs relevant to the department. Identify and address training gaps by collaborating with division managers and supervisors to create action plans and implement training and career development opportunities. Serve as the contact for WESTAR and other similar organizations in bringing a variety of training courses to the department based on current business needs. Evaluate training program effectiveness and recommend adjustments to ensure ongoing improvement and success. Create and present department overviews and onboarding resources tailored to management needs for new employee orientation.
Working Conditions
This position is typically in an office or administrative work environment, but may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel in the field. Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware:Windows PC, county-issued software, fleet coordination software, automobile jump pack, key cabinet, basic automotive tools, and automobiles of various designs, makes, and models. Work is typically performed in an office environment and may include a combination of on-site and remote work at the discretion of the director and as determined by business needs after a6-month initial training. Protective Equipment Required:Hearing protection, safety shoes, safety glasses, visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE may be situationally required.
