About Coast Community College District
Coast Community College District is a multi-community college district comprised of Coastline Community College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College. The District Grants and Educational Services Department in the Educational Services and Technology Division provides leadership, oversight, and support for grant development, management, reporting, and compliance, and support for instructional programs and services district-wide. The three colleges offer programs in transfer, general education, career and technical education, adult education, and community services. The District enrolls close to 50,000 students annually in more than 300 degree and certificate programs. The District Office is located in Costa Mesa, just minutes from Southern California's beautiful beaches. Governed by a locally elected Board of Trustees, Coast Community College District plays a significant role in the community by responding to the needs of a changing and diverse population.
Summary Plans and develops strategies, manages, and advocates for the District with internal and external stakeholders in efforts to enhance community support of the District's foundation efforts. Serves as administrator of the Coast Community College District Foundation.
Distinguishing Career Features The Director District Foundation is a management position reporting to the Director of Chancellors Office Operations and Government Relations and participates in the development of programs for fundraising, donor cultivation, campaign development and foundation event
planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties may vary among departments, divisions and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all the following kinds of duties, as assigned:
1. Engages in near-to-long term planning with the Foundation Board, District Chancellor, and the Director of Chancellor's Office Operations and Government Relations. Participates in development of programs, policies, and priorities for the Chancellor and Foundation Board. Facilitates recruitment and conducts onboarding of new Foundation Board members.
2. Directs activities that advance the faculty grant program made possible through the work of the Foundation Board. Provides participatory support of the review and selection of grant applications by Board members.
3. Cultivates contacts and establishes and maintains a system for identifying and contacting current and potential donors and for soliciting support for foundation programs.
4. Develops partnerships with community organizations, philanthropic groups, affiliates, and business organizations. Attends community events as a representative of the foundation and District.
5. Works in coordination with the District's public relations and marketing functions, Board of Trustees, and Chancellor's Office to enhance image and awareness of the foundation.
6. Monitors and negotiates agreements related to the CCCD Enterprise Corporation in keeping with the Foundation's responsibility as a shareholder of the revenue generating venture.
7. Oversees budget development and financial record keeping for the Foundation. Ensures proper accounting controls, consistent with District and Foundation policy.
8. Directs preparation of an annual report for distribution to the Board and public. Prepares copy for other printed materials and media for publication.
9. Ensures proper operational compliance with all internal and external audit processes and requirements, as well as state and federal laws. Works with all foundations within the Coast District to prepare materials for Internal Audit and the Board of Trustees.
10. Facilitates open communications between the District Foundation, Coastline Foundation, Golden West Foundation, and Orange Coast College Foundation. Seeks opportunities for collaboration, including joint fundraising opportunities.
11. Supervises, establishes work plans and objectives, and evaluates performance of staff.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.
13. Required to abide by all District policies and procedures including Board Policy 3050 - Code of Professional Ethics.

Qualifications Knowledge and Skills 1. The position requires professional knowledge of the general principles, practices and techniques of foundation leadership, donor cultivation, and community outreach programs. 2. Requires working knowledge of governing Board proceedings. 3. Requires well-developed knowledge of the mission for foundations in general. 4. Requires working knowledge of departmental and project budgeting techniques and fiscal management. 5. Requires working knowledge of the principles of management and supervision, including performance measurement. 6. Requires skill at using a computer and peripheral office equipment for personal use and presentations. This includes software applications for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and specialized packages/applications. 7. Requires advanced written and oral language and human relations skills to influence internal and external customers, make formal presentations, conduct training, and to manage the performance of others. 8. Requires sufficient math skills to perform business financial calculations and statistical analysis. 9. Requires advanced human relations skill to adapt to diverse personalities and styles, establish harmony and cooperation with work teams inside and outside the District, facilitate group discussions, make formal presentations, apply strategy in discussions, and conduct complex negotiations.
Abilities 1. Requires the ability to perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the position. 2. Requires the ability to learn and apply applicable requirements of the education code and College policies. 3. Requires the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with college staff, community members, media representatives and co-workers. 4. Requires the ability to facilitate foundation and fundraising planning at the Board, donor, and strategic leadership levels. 5. Must be able to train and provide direction to others and to organize and manage multiple projects. 6. Requires the ability to work cooperatively and productively with groups and individuals of a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. 7. Requires the ability to work flexible hours as the job requires, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Abilities 1. The general physical demands, working conditions, and essential job functions associated with this classification will be kept on file with the Office of Human Resources. 2. Essential functions will vary by position. 3. Education and Experience The position requires the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, public policy, or related field that would enable job performance and 4 years of experience in a similar role with increasing responsibilities. A Master's degree is preferred and may substitute for some experience. Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position.
Licenses and Certificates Requires a valid driver license.
Working Conditions Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.
