NDT Trainee
Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated NDT Trainee to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

- Accurately follow written instructions and clearly record results under close supervision.
- Show continuous progression within the NDT certification process based on demonstrated performance and feedback from others.
- Successfully pass various examinations (domestic travel required when attending training sessions).
- Illustrate the ability to make sound decisions on how to inspect and process parts.
- Follow established procedures and part specific techniques.
- Must know and follow all department and company safety rules.
- Successfully perform calibrations, tests, and evaluations with NDT equipment.
- Be able to learn and operate ultrasonic test equipment.

Minimum Requirements

- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g., Associate Degree) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. 2 years' related work experience). (High School Diploma or equivalent required).
- Ability to read specifications, formulas, charts, tables, drawings; comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic calculations in order to complete assigned duties.
- Must have a high level of integrity and able to accept an elevated level of responsibility.
- Excellent attention to detail and due diligence in assigned work.
- Customer-centric attitude to the quality of assigned work with a desire to ensure continual and consistent client satisfaction is required.
- Proficient understanding of the metric system.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with coworkers.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- US Person required.

Preferred Requirements

- Knowledge of and compliance with AS9100 and NAS410 standards.
- Effective collaboration across work cells that promote drive for results in meeting production targets.
- Understanding of industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Self-starter with problem-solving skills.
- Strong team building, and decision-making skills based on electronic data.
- Experience in NDT highly desirable.
- Ability to read technical documentation preferred.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of inspection technology preferred.

Physical Requirements

- Able to work in a manufacturing environment and follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
- Able to bend, twist, squat, and lift.
- Able to operate a forklift.
- Able to work flexible schedule, including extended hours and weekends.
- Successful candidate may be required to work any shift - first, second or third.
- Work onsite in Columbus, MS.
- Less than 10% travel requirement, Candidate must be willing to travel between Aurora sites for production support, and as needed for training purposes, with reasonable notice.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $31,200.00 to $53,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $38,000.00 to $68,000.00
