| SECURITY COMPLIANCE OFFICERDEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC FACILITIES

 The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Security Compliance Officer for the Department of Public Facilities. Under the direction of the Chief of Public Facilities, the Security Compliance Officer patrols and safeguards assigned Public Facilities, which may include adjacent city-owned parking areas, parking garages, or public open spaces connected to the facility. The position will carry out operations related to the safety and security of the building and grounds used by staff, patrons, and visitors. The individual will patrol and secure assigned premises as well as identify risks to staff and patrons. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills and have experience working with diverse populations in an urban community. This position will require walking extensively and perform physical checks on departmental facilities during each work shift. The work schedules available will be 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm and 2nd shift Monday - Friday 3:00pm to 11:00pm, subject to future change based upon needs of the facility. Additional duties may include first aid response, crowd control, and ability to effectively manage high risk situations. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS: 
 
 
 Maintain high visibility by patrolling in public areas to keep order, to deter inappropriate behavior, and to assist the public by ensuring a safe, and comfortable environmentWork to enforce the assigned facilities Conduct Policy and educate the public about the rules and regulations on City of Worcester propertyProactively engage with customers to address issues in order to quickly diffuse situations and minimize disruptionDiscuss infractions or violations with patrons, assesses appropriate actions, and escorts patrons from premises if necessaryAct as the first point of contact for staff regarding questions or concerns about security or security incidents, often needing immediate assistanceAssist with serving and enforcing No Trespass Orders issued by the City of WorcesterRender first aid in medical emergenciesWork closely with the Emergency Communications Management, Worcester Police and Fire Department in emergency situationsStay informed on available resources for social services in the Worcester area and shares with patrons as neededPrepare incident reports and establishes and maintains files on daily activities and administrative mattersAssist building custodians with closing the building by clearing all public floors and remaining until all patrons have exited Contribute to creating an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effortActively participate in staff development and training opportunitiesPerform other duties, as assigned, consistent with the functions of the work unit and level of responsibilities

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
 
 
 High School diploma or equivalentPrior experience as a security guard or in a patrol environmentTwo (2) years of experience in security, public safety, public service, corrections, social services  Ability to successfully pass a CORI background check 
 
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
 
 Three (3) years of professional experience in a patrol environment Prior law enforcement and/or military experienceOne (1) year of experience with customer service
 
 SALARY RANGE: $23.11 - $28.09 hourly, full-time, excellent benefits package.
