Volkert is seeking an experienced Engineering Office Manager to lead our Brentwood, TN office within our Gulf Region. This role serves as Principal-in-Charge, providing strategic leadership in operations, business development, and roadway design while driving growth across our Tennessee transportation market.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational success of the Brentwood office
  • Drive aggressive business development efforts with TDOT and municipal clients
  • Identify, pursue, and win transportation opportunities across Tennessee
  • Serve as senior technical authority for roadway design and complex transportation projects
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team
  • Develop pursuit strategies, lead interviews, and strengthen key client partnerships
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure profitability, quality, and schedule performance
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to expand market share and cross-office growth

What you need to have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee
  • 15+ years of progressive transportation/roadway engineering experience
  • 5+ years leading engineering teams
  • Proven success driving business development and winning work
  • Experience working with TDOT and local transportation agencies
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and office operations
  • Strong financial acumen and project management expertise
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
