Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is seeking to recruit a psychiatrist to our clinical faculty to direct our Psychosis Program. This is a clinician-educator position (non-tenured) with both outpatient and inpatient opportunities tailored to suit candidates. We are seeking candidates with experience and interest in the treatment of severe and persistent mental illness to direct our Psychosis Program. For decades, UIC has been the home of experts in the field of psychotic spectrum disorders who are passionate about caring for vulnerable people in our communities. The inpatient and outpatient components of our Psychosis Program are staffed with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated individuals, providing a unique and dynamic learning environment for our residents. The position includes teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as shared on-call duties. Strong candidates for this position should have administrative experience in leading clinical services as well as extensive clinical experience in treating psychotic disorders.

Applicants must be a physician or physician-scientist and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited residency in Psychiatry. The applicant must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois and an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license and must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Psychiatry.

UIC Psychiatry is one of the largest departments in the Midwest, with a strong General Psychiatry Residency Training Program and several fellowships, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Women's Mental Health. We are also one of the top ranked teaching departments at University of Illinois College of Medicine, the largest medical school in the country, with both preclinical and clinical teaching and mentoring opportunities. Our clinical services focus on diverse and vulnerable patients, serving predominantly minority and economically underserved populations on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Our inpatient psychiatry unit includes the only Med-Psych service in Chicago, as well as the only unit that regularly accommodates pregnant patients. We are also a nationally known basic and clinical research enterprise, ranked first in Chicago and top 20 by NIH funding, with foci in mood and anxiety disorders, women's mental health, late life depression, addictions, and mental health services, with multiple opportunities for collaboration and translation of research towards serving our clinical populations.

Benefits and Compensation:

The previously determined salary range for this position is $220,000.00 to $250,000.00.
