The University of Virginia Medical Center, a nationally recognized Level 1 Trauma Center, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager to lead and support an expanding team of APPs in the Emergency Department. This leadership role combines clinical practice (80%) with administrative responsibilities (20%), with the expectation that administrative effort will grow as the APP team continues to expand.
The APP Manager will oversee APPs staffing a 24/7 ED observation unit as well as multiple clinical areas within the main Emergency Department. The role includes administrative management, recruiting, onboarding, performance coaching, and operational optimization to ensure the APP team delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and contributes to departmental goals. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the medical director, departmental administration, the department chair, nursing leadership, and other leaders across the institution. Formally, the ED APP manager will report to UVA Health's Medical Specialties APP Director through the Center for Advanced Practice. There will also be a secondary reporting relationship with the ED Medical Director. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Administration (20% effort, increasing with program growth):

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's or Doctorate in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Certified Nurse Midwife); Master's or Doctorate in Science (Physician Assistant or Radiologist Assistant) Experience: 5 years as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, Radiologist Assistant or Physician Assistant Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or Certified Nurse Midwife in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia or licensed to practice as a Radiologist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) required for selected clinical practice settings. Other certifications may be required to be obtained after hire depending on the clinical setting PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking/bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
