Join Our Team as a Design Engineer (Contingent)!

A Design Engineer is primarily responsible for modeling easy-to-complex parts in 3D CAD and generating 2D drawings for parts based on the 3D models and the existing drawings. Responsible for working with product engineering and quality organization to ensure models and prints are accurate and conform to S&C drawing standards. Potential to design and product support role as described below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate 3D Models in Solid Edge based on existing prints provided by S&C. The 3D models need to be detailed and accurate and match the drawings provided by S&C.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Engineers in Product Engineering to resolve scenarios where the existing prints do not provide the required information to generate a complete 3D Model.
  • Generate updated prints in Solid Edge based on the model. Ensure the new print matches the old print and comply with S&C drawing standards, including ASME Y14.5.
  • Collaborate with Designer and Engineers to design new product parts and assemblies.
  • Develop, oversee and execute tests, both electrical and mechanical according to project schedules.
  • Interpret, analyze and summarize data, identify trends, prepare reports and formulate conclusions.
  • Work with laboratory team members to perform tests.
  • Use formal problem-solving techniques to address quality and reliability issues.
  • Pursue assignments with positivity and a sense of urgency.
  • Work with customers to answer application questions regarding the use of S&C's fuse products.

  • Interact with customers on the phone or in the field to resolve design, manufacturing or application related issues.

  • Evaluate and provide detailed, written engineering reports on the returned products.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • 2+ years of engineering experience, including proven experience with 3D CAD design (Solid Edge preferred).
  • Experience creating drawings with dimensions and tolerances compliant with ASME Y14.5.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work with team members at all levels across the organization.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite proficiency.
