Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Retail Pharmacy Technician to support our office in Norfolk.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare oral outpatient medications under the supervision of a physician.Checks orders for completeness of information including proper physician authorization and patient information
  • Checks orders for insurance approval prior to dispensing
  • Under a professional's supervision prepares drugs ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner per department guidelines. Calculates and prepares correct dosage and quantities according to the physician' prescription.
  • Properly disposes all materials used in preparation and maintains clean environment.
  • Checks drugs monthly for outdates and keeps accurate records of products dispensed and ordered into inventory.
  • Completes inventory control of medications. Orders supplies and medications as directed and ensures that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-5 years retail pharmacy tech experience required.
  • Oncology background preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician strongly recommended
  • Must be willing to travel to all office locations as needed

Physical Demands:

This position rquires ull range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination, ability to read and note appropriate measurement, sitting/standing for extensive periods, occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
