MaineHealth Cardiology is seeking a Heart Failure cardiologist to join our highly skilled team in a hybrid role with inpatient heart failure service at Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland and ambulatory care based at St Mary's Health System in Lewiston, Maine.

This position offers:

  • A team of over 70 cardiologists who provide inpatient, outpatient and consultative services.
  • Rounding on advanced heart failure patients with the primary HF service.
  • Peri-operative and long-term care of durable implantable left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) recipients implanted at Maine Medical Center.
  • Co-management of cardiogenic shock care including management of temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), Impella 5.5 temporary percutaneous right and left sided ventricular assist devices.
  • Post transplant care of heart transplant recipients who have transitioned care back to MaineHealth from a regional transplant center.
  • Additional heart failure opportunities at MaineHealth Portland / Scarborough include multidisciplinary care teams including Structural Heart or Valve Clinic, Infiltrative Cardiomyopathy Clinic, and Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic.
  • Providing patients across the state with the highest quality cardiac care, working closely with other regional hospitals to build a coordinated network of cardiology services.
  • Direct teaching role with Maine Medical Center's Cardiology Fellows, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program.
  • Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified in Cardiovascular Medicine and Board Certified/Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
