The Department of Chemistry & Physics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical Chemistry. We are seeking a dynamic educator and scholar to join our dedicated faculty and contribute to our vibrant academic community.

UNC Pembroke is a student-centered public university with a strong commitment to personalized teaching and undergraduate research. Our department offers a hands-on curriculum that prepares chemistry majors for diverse career paths in forensics, biotechnology, pharmacy, and other related fields. Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a passionate teacher and mentor with a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Key responsibilities include:

Teaching: Instructing courses such as analytical chemistry (lecture and lab), general chemistry, and advanced courses aligned with the candidate's area of expertise.
Research: Developing and maintaining an active research program that provides meaningful, hands-on opportunities for undergraduate students.
Instrumentation: Overseeing, maintaining, and integrating modern analytical instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR) into both teaching and research curricula to enhance experiential learning. See our collection here: https://bjkillian.github.io/UNCPInstrument
Qualifications

Required:

A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field, conferred by the start of the appointment.
Willingness to operate, maintain, and use modern analytical instrumentation in teaching and research.
Preferred:

Previous experience maintaining analytical instrumentation.
Prior undergraduate teaching experience.
