As a result, our Aviation group is seeking a highly motivated Experienced Airport Electrical Engineer to join our team. This exciting opportunity will be based at any of our national Mead & Hunt offices and will play a crucial role in the planning and design of airport-related projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project management, preparing plans and specifications and designing airport lighting and associated controls as well as electrical vaults power sources and controls
  • Designing airport lighting systems and associated controls to FAA standards for airport facilities and buildings
  • Developing probable construction cost estimates for projects
  • Analyzing and preparing reports, specifications, plans, schedules, permits, and designs for airfield lighting and signage projects
  • Mentoring less experienced staff
  • Developing and reviewing probable construction costs
  • Providing construction administration and site visits
  • Working closely with clients, partners and internal staff to achieve on-time and quality deliverables
  • Providing construction administration services and site visits related to electrical systems
  • Assisting with business and fee development, and client communication
  • Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver's license, the ability to pass background check to gain access to airport sites, and monthly travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have the following background:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 8 years of relevant electrical experience
  • PE license in any state with the ability to obtain in other states as needed

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following:

  • Project management of AIP funded projects
  • Designing electrical systems for airport building, electrical vaults, parking facilities and other general electrical designs at an airport to FAA standards
  • Designing airport lighting systems and associated controls to UFC standards
  • Preparing construction document drawings in AutoCAD
  • Power design and analysis software (EasyPower and/or SKM Power Tools)
  • Lighting calculations software (AGi32)
  • Coordinating the preparation of construction document drawings and specifications
  • Providing construction administration services and site visits related to electrical systems

Salary Range: $135,000 and above - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
