Mandatory Employee

Primary Purpose of Position |
Essential to the success of the security program is an on-site Security Guard Supervisor. The Security Guard Supervisor will manage a daily security operation and directly supervise and train 27 Housing and Residence Life Security Guards located in fifteen residential facilities/areas. The guards are involved in protecting people, the state, and personal property for a residential student population of approximately 6,000. The Security Guard Supervisor reports directly to the Director of
HRL Business Services and serves as the primary liaison between professional staff and Security Guard staff. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work.
- Valid N.C. driver's license.

Essential Job Duties |
- The Housing and Residence Life Security Guard Supervisor oversees a comprehensive security operation that supports approximately 6,000 residential students across fifteen campus housing facilities.
- This position manages, trains, and evaluates a team of 27 Security Guards, ensuring consistent implementation of university and departmental policies while maintaining a visible supervisory presence during overnight hours (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.).
- Responsibilities include scheduling and staffing coverage, monitoring security operations through patrols and surveillance systems, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and maintaining accurate records of incidents, timekeeping, and leave.
- Develops and delivers training programs, conducts performance reviews, and enforces policies to uphold safety, professionalism, and service excellence.
- Additionally, the role collaborates closely with University Police, Residence Education, Facilities, and other campus partners to coordinate responses, address security concerns, and foster a safe, student-centered residential environment.
- This position is designated as a mandatory employee role, requiring attendance during adverse conditions to ensure continuous protection of campus housing operations.
