Job Description

This role offers a range of $107,000 to $135,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications such as experience, education, certifications, and skills, as well as geographic considerations.

We are seeking a R&D Analytical Laboratory Manager to work at our state-of-the-art R&D center. The Analytical Lab Manager will work with the Director to plan, direct and organize projects; understands method development, can apply the principles to non-routine testing, as well as teach these principles to junior chemists; a project leader and understands junior staff abilities to effectively delegate projects for completion.

In addition, the Analytical Lab Manager will continue to perform duties of a Senior Chemist. As such, the individual will maintain, organize and lead multiple projects at a time. Must have a proven track record in taking an idea/project from inception to completion and presentation; will have a background in Materials Science, Mass Spectrometry, Food Packaging/Migration Testing, Extractable/Leachable testing, and/or Surface analysis. Consistent with the employee's background, he will have shown utilization of advanced complementary analytical techniques. The Analytical Manager will be highly organized, have knowledge of and implemented work instructions, regulated methods, SOPs, and/or ASTMs.

As a Lab Manager you will be responsible to:

  • Effectively delegate projects and coach junior members of the Analytical Laboratory.
  • Workwith Analytical team for project assignment and completion.
  • Helpidentify training needs of Analytical team members.
  • Work effectively with the Director of Analytical.
  • Workwith the director to identify areas of improvement and needs in the laboratory.
  • Workindependently with some supervision of lab manager and/or project leader.
  • Performnon-routine analytical tests.
  • Developnew methods for the analytical lab.
  • Utilize literature and patent searches to support non-routine tests, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain, organize, and lead multiple projects at a time.
  • Facilitatecross lab discussion for project progression, completion and/or analysis.
  • Prepareand maintaindata for formal submission outside of INX.
  • Prepare internal and external reports.
Qualifications

To perform your job as expected, you will be required:

  • BS in Chemistry or related field is required. A MS in Chemistry, or related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience asChemist, R&D Chemist, Analytical Chemist
  • Have at least 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: GCMS, LCMSMS, HRMS, Microscopy, FTIR, UV/VIS-NIR, TGA, DSC, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiencyat equipment and experimental troubleshooting.
  • Skilled at evaluating instrument system suitability.
  • Proficiencyin quantitative analysis.
  • Proficiencyin Analytical methods, laboratory equipment, and HPLC/MS and/or GC/MS.
  • Proficiencyat analytical instrumentation analysis software.

In addition to these qualifications, we will consider as a plus if you have:

  • Basic understanding of ink formulation and components as it pertains to analytical analysis and daily analytical activities.
  • PhD in chemistry or related field
  • Experience in ink and coatings analysis
