About the Department and/or College

The Assistant Director will focus on coordinating the Financial Wellbeing and Literacy initiatives of Graduate, TTU Online, and International Students. This position is an expansion of the currently existing Red to Black Program. The action strategies below have been developed to communicate expectations and program direction.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Lead and support financial well-being and literacy initiatives for graduate, online, international students, and their families by contributing to strategic planning, managing resources, and delivering targeted financial literacy workshops designed to strengthen financial habits and skills.
  • Collaborate with key campus partners, including Student Financial Aid, Student Business Services, TTU Online, the Office of International Affairs, and the Graduate School, to integrate financial literacy and well-being into student programming, with a focus on addressing the diverse financial needs of students funding their education.
  • Provide education and support to students through one-on-one coaching sessions, offering financial resources and plans that promote informed decision-making.
  • Provide supervision to student staff, including a Research Assistant and/or undergraduate student assistant(s).
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in financial planning, higher education, or equivalent area. Knowledge of college student populations and effective financial education techniques and programs. Knowledge of college student volunteers, advisement, training, recruitment, selection, and recognition.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
