Job Summary: The Cost Accountant is a manager level professional supporting project delivery activities on an interim basis. This position oversees the cost accounting function, ensuring accurate cost allocation, analysis, and reporting to support business decision-making. This role manages the preparation and review of cost reports, budgets, and variance analyses, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cost control processes. This position plays a key role in supporting financial planning, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis to drive operational efficiency and strategic growth. Job Duties:
- Manages the preparation and analysis of cost reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Oversees inventory valuation and cost allocation processes
- Develops and implements cost accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Analyzes cost variances and provides recommendations for cost reduction
- Collaborates with operations, procurement, and finance teams to optimize cost structures
- Prepares and presents cost analysis reports to management and stakeholders
- Supports audits and ensures compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Leads, trains, and mentors cost accounting staff
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation within cost accounting
- Other duties as required
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, required
- Master's degree or MBA, preferred
Experience:
- Ten (10) or more years of accounting, finance, business, or management experience, preferred
- Five (5) or more years of cost accounting experience, required
License(s)/Certification(s):
Software:
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites, required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite), required

- Technical skills commensurate with level of experience
- Able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism even under pressure

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. National Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr Maryland Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr
