The primary duties of the Southwest Region Bridge Leader include:

Technical Oversight of the Region:

As appropriate, participate in Management Reviews of any project containing a transportation structure, and Review Bridge and Structures PARRs to verify that action items / decisions are being addressed / incorporated, or PARR addendums are conducted if necessary.

Assist/Advise Local Program with Marketing:

Tracking & positioning for pursuits, researching pursuits, developing pursuit approach & staffing (strategy), preparing Proposals (write-up & graphics), and preparing for Interviews.

Assist/Advise Local Program with Operations:

Forecasting project workload and committing resources, forecasting technical needs (quarterly projections), and setting up structures org chart for Program including QC/QA.

Local Project Management and Design Production:

Primary responsibility is to local transportation program supporting the execution of transportation projects, serve as project manager for bridge projects across the region. Assist project teams across multiple disciplines to produce quality deliverables, and support other project managers in a task lead or senior bridge engineer role on both traditional and alternative delivery projects.

Specific Actions/Accountability:

Promote and seek to obtain technical excellence in the Area, identify key talent acquisitions and strategize approach to recruitment, hold monthly Area (or Regional) Bridge Group coordination calls. Focus on short-term staffing and 'needs', technical or otherwise, and pursuits, participate in Monthly National Bridge Program Coordination calls, participate in regular communication with National Bridge Director(s) & Area/Regional counterparts, verify the following Area (or Regional) Bridge Program information; quarterly Resource Chart Updates, quarterly Rolling 12 Staffing Projections: booked, selected not booked, perspective (Key Pursuits List) and work-sharing, and Once a year, verify the Rolling 5 Staffing Projections and long-range opportunities

Personal Qualities:

Ability to assess personalities/strengths/challenges and then to engage staff as either individuals or groups, demonstrated effective leadership, communication, and project management skills. Proven ability to work with various individual personality and team types required.

Preferred Qualifications:

BSCE is required; MSCE in Structural Engineering preferred.

California PE is a plus.

20+ years bridge/structural design experience preferred.

Software: proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or Open Bridge Modeler; experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software; experience using Bluebeam and Bluebeam Revu is a plus.

Experience leading the final design on large bridge projects is necessary; experience managing complex multi-disciplinary projects preferred.

Experience supporting and/or leading project pursuits, writing persuasive proposals, and discussing new business with clients.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years bridge design experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
  • Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams
  • Project management skills desirable
  • Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) California: $150,068.00- $249,156.00; Hawaii: $143,246.00- $193,804.00.
