DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An employee in this role is tasked with overseeing the assignment, participation, and instruction of inmates engaged in extensive food preparation, production, serving, and sanitation processes. This position involves leading and delivering on-the-job training in food service to inmates, who are responsible for a range of activities, including specialized meal preparation and cooking tasks. The employee must ensure that all operations adhere to established food safety and sanitation standards, maintain a safe working environment, and enforce security and custody regulations within the designated work area. Additionally, the role encompasses the requisitioning, receiving, and proper storage of food and supplies, as well as the preparation and maintenance of work records and inmate reports. Employees are also encouraged to participate in cross-training programs to gain comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the food service operation. The work is conducted with a significant degree of autonomy and is subject to review by a Corrections Food Service Supervisor, who assesses the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the operations. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The schedule will be based on the available shifts at the time of hiring.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
