GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Field Engineer is an entry-level field position that works with the foremen and crews on the installation of precast concrete buildings. This person is responsible for learning the overall progress of the installation of the project and reports directly to the Field Operations Manager of their respective division. The field engineer will assist in sequencing, layout, material ordering, equipment management, and any other field activities as directed by the Field Superintendent or Field Operations Manager.

Salary range $80,000+ Based on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Support the foremen, laborers & operators at the project to complete tasks
  • Coordinate with foreman and dispatch daily for load times & sequence
  • Troubleshoot any problems that arise & help resolve them
  • Ensure product is properly aligned vertical & horizontal with survey equipment
  • Read & interpret blueprints & communicate the work plan to the crew
  • Write daily/weekly reports explaining progress made & problems encountered and manage the NCR process
  • Assist the Field Operation Managers with conducting early jobsite visits to coordinate start date, crane & truck access, and project concerns with client
  • Source necessary construction equipment & materials to complete the project
  • Coordinate shipping schedules, appropriate equipment & crew size needed for the project to be completed in efficiently
  • Determine the proper installation sequence based on the site & precast produced to work efficiently & effectively
  • Coordinate daily job duties while always looking ahead to maximize project schedule
  • Determine as needed and follow the layout, crane pick plan, and bracing procedures and job specific plan on every project
  • Coordinate grout and weld inspections with GC and third-party agencies as needed for project testing requirements
  • Coordinate and communicate relevant precast related activities to GC and other trades to ensure effective site wide planning
  • Complete special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned


EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour training required (will be provided)
  • Must have interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and precast construction drawings necessary
  • Must be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of survey equipment
  • Must be motivated and self-driven to complete a task
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office suite required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally
  • Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently
  • Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently

  • Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific)
