Job Description
General Purpose of Job: Provide insurance-based services focusing on registrations, insurance authorizations, and referrals in order to maximize the value, potential, and satisfaction of our customers. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Assist in the preparation of reports including patient satisfaction results, surveys, various chart audits, draft and independently prepare special reports/analyses for review by the Medical Director and Department Manager.
- Work simultaneously on several projects while keeping the Department Manager informed of progress and problem areas.
- Obtain third party payer insurance authorizations and maintain detailed records of proof of receipt of same.
- Coordination of office activities such as requisition of supplies/inventory control, mail processing, and maintenance of office equipment.
- Assist in the coordination of special projects.
- Performs various typing duties such as correspondence, forms, tables, charts and records for case management.
- Conduct Ambulatory Chart Reviews and JCAHO departmental audits as needed.
- Prepares case conference list and patient charts and distributes accordingly.
- Verify insurance coverage for patients as needed for case management and general operations.
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* Preferred - Experience working with auto, governmental and commercial insurance carriers. |
Work Experience |
* Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare office environment. Experience working with insurance authorizations, benefits eligibility, online access, etc. |
Education |
* Associate Degree in business administration or related field or High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program and two (2) years related experience. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills in a professional, customer-friendly manner. * Ability to prioritize job assignments despite multiple job responsibilities. * Demonstrated knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. * Demonstrated secretarial skills, typing requirement minimum 55 wpm. * Ability to operate various types of office equipment such as computer, fax, typewriter, calculator, telephone, pager, scanner, photocopy machine and printers. |
