Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our transportation group in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges and a variety of transportation-related structures. The candidate will perform geotechnical field reconnaissance, prepare and administer boring contracts, perform geotechnical calculations, and prepare Geotechnical and Foundation Recommendation Reports. The candidate will also be involved in the development of contract plans, the preparation of engineers' estimates and construction specifications, and performing construction support services.

Responsibilities

The individual will work as part of a team in all facets of transportation engineering including design of horizontal and vertical alignments, structural design, drainage systems, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, development of maintenance and protection of traffic schemes, and preparation of contract plans for a variety of project types and clients.

    Performs geotechnical related design for transportation projects including slope stability.
  • Prepares Subsurface Exploration Planning Submissions, Foundation Recommendation Reports and other geotechnical related reports.
  • Coordinates with bridge structural designers.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Assist with proposal development.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with Geotechnical or Structural Engineering emphasis)
  • 0-2 years' experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD)
  • Proficiency in MS Office software
  • Desire to work in a team environment
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is preferred
