The School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) is the largest academic unit at Rutgers University and the center of the undergraduate experience on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning the liberal arts.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Director for the Office for Development and Academic Success in the Sciences ( ODASIS) within the School of Arts and Sciences.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Oversees the daily operation of ODASIS, both the Busch and Livingston Offices, including the development, implementation, and assessment of established programs designed to enhance the academic success of students.
  • Supervises and trains Assistant Director, Developmental Specialists and Program Coordinator to ensure quality of the educational programs provided.
  • Oversees student recruitment and retention efforts including development of individual student tracking method for student progress and development and administration of needs assessments of ODASIS students.
  • Coordinates workshops, field trips, and activities to motivate students in the sciences to better prepare themselves for graduate or professional school.
  • Oversees the annual budget and yearly programmatic accounts.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree, preferably in Education with concurrent involvement in professional development training.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff in a university setting, the safeguarding of conflictual data, and design and implementation of science programs complementing undergraduate-level science curricula.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent diplomatic, interpersonal, organizational, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team.
  • Computer literacy to include statistical database and analysis applications (Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel).
  • Ability to become proficient in other required research and curriculum delivery applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph/D in Higher Education.
  • Experience with the issues affecting the achievement of underrepresented individuals in the fields of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology.
