Director, Software Engineering Summary: Engineering Leaders are accountable for the outcomes delivered by the product teams within their organizations. They ensure the quality, robustness, security, and compliance of all delivered products. Additionally, they are responsible for the operational efficiency and productivity of their teams. Engineering Leaders are expected to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Building and supporting products that drive the outcomes required by Employbridge. Partnering with their peers within Engineering, Product Management, User Experience, and other organizations within Employbridge. Outcomes to Drive:
- Technically Strong Products: Ensure that products are reliable, scalable, and robust, with high availability and the capacity to handle large transactional loads.
- Secure & Compliant Solutions: Maintain products that are secure and compliant, reducing operational risks for Employbridge.
- Cultural Leadership: Create and sustain engineering teams that embody Employbridge values, promoting efficient delivery and continuous innovation.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Develop teams that work seamlessly with other departments (Product, IT, RevOps, Operations) to deliver results aligned with Employbridge's strategic objectives.
- Customer Satisfaction: Focus engineering teams on streamlined solutions that promote internal and external customer adoption, efficiency, and user satisfaction.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Accountability for Products & Services: Take ownership of the technical outcomes for all products and services delivered by the team (internal and outsourced).
- Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for their products, working closely with Product Management and User Experience to align technical and business goals.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the financial performance of their teams, including budget responsibility for both direct costs and consumed services.
- Team Culture Leadership: Drive the engineering and technical culture within their teams, ensuring a focus on quality, innovation, and efficiency.
- Talent Management: Oversee the attraction, retention, and development of Employbridge team members, fostering professional growth and team stability.
- Technical Roadmap Ownership: Develop and maintain the technical roadmap for their products, balancing innovation with the management of technical debt.
Background and Experience
- Application implementation or software development experience in a corporate environment.
- In depth technical understanding of their domain's technologies.
- Familiarity with agile software development processes.
- Familiarity with cloud implementations, Salesforce, AWS technology stacks.
- Leading and developing technical teams and cultures, ideally in the geographically dispersed organization.
- A track record of successful product implementations, transformations, and staff development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration experience within and external to the Product Development leadership.
- Ability to work at both a strategic and tactical level to develop and deliver solutions.
Who They Work For and With:
- Reporting Line: Engineering Leaders report to the Vice President of Engineering and Data.
- Key Stakeholders: They collaborate with peers in Engineering, as well as leaders in Product Management, IT, RevOps, and Operations to ensure alignment and achieve Employbridge's objectives.
Who Reports to Them:
- Team Management: They supervise Delivery Managers and individual technical contributors, including internal team members.
- Partner Liaison: Maintain a strong connection with leaders from outsourcing partner organizations to ensure alignment and delivery.
The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $160,000 to $220,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
