Position Description:
The Principal SCADA Engineer will support the design, configuration, commissioning, and operation support of SCADA and ADMS systems for CLPE clients as well as supporting microgrid control systems. The Principal SCADA Engineer is considered a subject matter expert of complex SCADA/ADMS systems with the ability of preparing conceptual designs, performance specifications, detailed design and integration, commissioning, and performing ongoing maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teams and perform the design, programming, and deployment of SCADA hardware and software components, including Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and communication protocols.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on projects, providing guidance and direction to other engineering team members to execute specific project work on SCADA system design and configuration
- Lead SCADA system commissioning and operations support with the ability to troubleshoot issues as well as guide and support other members of the team in other troubleshooting activities.
- Possess knowledge of microgrids and their associated distribution energy resources (DERs) to incorporate those components into the SCADA/ADMS systems and commission the respective assets.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of SCADA/ADMS systems including the latest industry practices and standards, ensuring SCADA systems adhere to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Mentor other staff to enhance and develop a further understanding of the systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of SCADA system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect SCADA systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Oversee routine maintenance, software updates, and system backups.
- Analyze real-time and historical data to identify trends and potential issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills | Knowledge | Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field from an accredited degree program or adequate work-related experience to exhibit the knowledge required for the position.
- Minimum of twelve (12+) years experience as a SCADA/Automation/ADMS Engineer or in a similar role to include at least five (5) years with substation/power system distribution SCADA systems required.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) with SCADA software platforms (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, Survalent, SEL, OSI).
- Expert knowledge of industrial automation protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, DNP3).
- Advanced understanding of PLC/RTU programming and configuration.
- Skilled in network design and cybersecurity principles for SCADA systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards (preferred)

Work Authorization | Security Clearance:
- You must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.

Compensation | Benefits:
- We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $150,000-$185,000 based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
- We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
Travel:
- 20% to project sites outside of CO
