Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician 3 located at the Wright-Patterson, AFB in Dayton, OH.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • An active DOD SECRET Clearance.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or manufacturing environment.
  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate's degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school, is highly desirable but not required.
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
  • English proficiency (spoken/written) and ability to follow oral and written instructions, read/write work orders, write daily reports, understand machine manuals, etc.
  • Able to understand and communicate orders/instructions using various communication devices.
  • Operational and maintenance knowledge and proficiency of common industrial equipment and systems to include engines, pumps, generators, trucks, cranes and other lifting devices (e.g., forklifts, genie lifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for ensuring that machines and equipment operate efficiently and reliably by performing routine maintenance and repairs to prevent breakdowns. May assist in performing mechanical systems upgrades. Must be able to demonstrate broad skills in an industrial/maintenance environment operating customized machinery and systems. General knowledge areas include mechanical, plumbing, electrical, generators, hydraulic, cooling, high pressure systems, lift/crane systems, pumps and some fabrication.

  • Conduct Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and machinery to prevent mechanical failures. This includes changing worn-out parts, lubricating moving components, and checking fluid levels.
  • Identify Issues by Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose mechanical issues before they lead to significant problems. This involves using diagnostic tools and techniques to assess equipment performance.
  • Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. This documentation is crucial for tracking equipment performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with a Highly Integrated Team: Work closely with other technicians and aerospace engineers to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
