Summary:

The HVAC Technician is responsible for completing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on generators of various types and conditions at DHS Facilities across the US.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Understand and comply with all necessary safety procedures and regulations.
  • Provide exceptional service and communication to clients.
  • Communicate and coordinate both internally and with external stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed of work scopes, issues and safety concerns.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC equipment to include but not limited to: Split Air Conditioning Units (inside and outside), Package Units, Package Air Conditioning Units, Air Handlers, Fan Coil Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Water Pumps. This includes all associated filtering systems, temperature controls, operation and safety controls, actuators and associated control systems. Inspect and test HVAC systems performance and output to ensure it meets specifications and requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Complete PM on equipment within the Statement of Work (SOW) per appropriate checklist.
  • Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to document all the recommended spare parts, repair parts, and tools associated with the equipment serviced
  • Coordinate any outages required for maintenance or repairs.
  • Complete all required reports to include checklists, trip reports and work orders.
  • Remain current on professional trade licenses and any applicable building code revisions.
  • Travel for this position is 100%.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be able to work on ladders, access rooftops and other hard to reach areas, and be able to lift and carry materials and tools in excess of 25 lbs.
  • Must be familiar with the requirements outlined by ASHRAE: American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, OSHA, and other safety regulations.
  • Must be proficient in using a computer to send email, as well as use Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a physical examination for duty.
  • Must be a graduate of a State approved/accredited or military program that provided formal HVAC Journeyman level instruction and training or hold a valid Master HVAC License at a State Level
  • Must hold a current EPA-approved CFC Universal certification for high and low-pressure refrigerants, and shall familiar with/be able to comply with regulations governing the use of CFC refrigerants.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician.
  • Ability to travel 100%

Pay and Benefits

The hourly range for this position is $30.00 to $45.00.
