Internship candidates can expect a fulltime onsite internship program, running from June 1, 2026 to August 7, 2026. Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Software Engineering Intern The Actuarial Software Engineering team at Northwestern Mutual is responsible for creating and improving systems that ensure the company can meet its financial promises to its customers, employees, and field representatives. These systems are financial in nature, centered on risk products and benefit plans, and based on the professional knowledge of the actuary. The applications are varied, generally are mathematical in nature, and involve working in close partnerships with technical peers and actuarial business experts. The assignment will be converting applications that are using old sign-on technology to the new Single Sign On (SSO) standard. In addition, new mainframe rest service API's will be built to retrieve data from the mainframe.
