Job Title: Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional (Intermediate - Senior Professional)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Services Professional to join the Wang Lab in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The Wang Lab is R01 funded. The applicant will be strongly supported in their pursuit of both academic and industry careers. The research will focus on a project at the intersection of RNA biology, cancer biology, and virology. Experience in molecular biology, data analysis, and tissue culture is required.

The Wang laboratory is currently studying:

The role of endogenous and viral derived circular RNAs in the pathogenesis of the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (focus of position)

Glucose transport and metabolism and its role in melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tissue culture (including work with lentiviruses)

  • Molecular biology (including work with DNA, RNA, and proteins)

  • Experiments with archived human tissues (IHC, ISH)

  • Transfection or knockdown/knockout of genes, generation of stable clones.

  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments

  • Analyze and interpret data

  • Summarize data for weekly discussions, lab meetings, departmental meetings, and national/international conference

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

  • Experience in data analysis

  • One (1) year professional level research experience which includes experience in molecular biology.

Senior Professional:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

  • Experience in data analysis

  • Two (2) years professional level research experience which includes experience in molecular biology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

  • Experience with scientific research writing.

  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The ability to work independently within the research lab

  • Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Intermediate: $52,721-$67,061

Senior: $56,995 - $72,498

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
