Job Overview

The Vendor Partner Associate plays a critical role in advancing the strategic partnership between Macy's and Welspun. Evolving from the traditional Associate role, this position goes beyond execution to support strategic planning, assortment optimization, and market analysis. The Associate ensures accurate in-stock and replenishment performance while leveraging customer insights, trend data, and innovation opportunities to inform merchandising decisions and drive long-term category growth.

What You Will Do



  • Support the development of sales and inventory plans by store, channel, and SKU/class, ensuring alignment with annual financial targets and C-1 program forecasts to increase forecast accuracy and minimize inventory risk.
  • Assist in building bottoms-up assortment strategies-including replenishment targets, key-item volumes, and newness-while evaluating breadth, depth, and productivity to improve assortment productivity through smarter curation and demand-led planning.
  • Collaborate with Buying and Inventory Planning teams to quantify assortments by brand, style, channel, and store cluster, ensuring alignment with financial targets and assortment frameworks that enhance modular sell-through and on-shelf availability.
  • Own assortment planning and allocation strategies, including min/max settings, assortment edits, and replenishment execution, while managing related maintenance and suspension processes to support inventory efficiency and in-stock execution.
  • Execute and monitor fulfillment strategies across channels to optimize inventory flow in adherence with financial plans, contributing to higher shelf availability and reduced inventory risk.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to validate monthly SOQs, manage PO updates and open order tracking, and support promo ladder setup, vendor communication, and sell-thru goal alignment that drives executional clarity and accountability.
  • Analyze shopper behavior, market trends, and inventory performance using tools like Blue Yonder, Circana/NPD, and Macy's POS data to identify opportunities and inform smarter, faster merchandising decisions.
  • Lead the creation of data-driven retail stories, category presentations, and modular strategies for merchant meetings and line reviews, supporting faster time-to-market for innovation and replenishment.
  • Act as a cross-functional partner across Macy's and Welspun teams, integrating customer insights, sustainability trends, and innovation to accelerate assortment evolution and long-term category growth.
  • Promote a culture of acceptance and respect, nurturing authentic connections within the team and across the organization.

Skills You Will Need

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing sales data, turn plans, and financial targets to inform assortment planning decisions.

Collaboration and Communication: Ability to collaborate within the Assortment Planning team and contribute to a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Retail Knowledge: Understanding of retail concepts, including assortment planning, private brand line plans, and allocation processes.

Quantitative Skills: Proficient in quantitative analysis, including building and maintaining category C-1, assessing current season performance, and determining future season replenishment assortment.

Planning and Organization: Strong organizational skills to assist in the development of by-store sales and turn plans, inspection of receipt flow plans, and management of key processes in pre-market, in-market, and post-market phases.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant tools and systems, such as NuOrder and EDI systems, to conduct style outs, confirm store matrix, and apply Min/Max at the Style level.

Decision-Making: Strong decision-making skills, particularly in finalizing necessary changes after style out and Buy Review and supporting in sending orders for allocation.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in merchandising, assortment planning, or category management - ideally within the home textiles or soft home categories - are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator with experience across planning, buying, product development, and supply chain functions.
  • Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to translate insights into compelling retail stories using tools like Blue Yonder, Circana/NPD, Oracle, Tableau, Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling), and Power BI (preferred).
  • Proficient in retail math, forecasting, replenishment, and inventory management within an omnichannel environment.
  • Proven ability to support modular resets, build effective buying frameworks, and improve assortment productivity.
  • Effective communicator and relationship-builder, comfortable partnering with both vendor and retailer teams to influence outcomes and manage ambiguity in a fast-paced setting.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
