Job Overview

The Laboratory Program Clinical Research Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of a cross functional team accountable for supporting approved clinical and anatomical laboratory research programs and/or studies conducted by Principal Investigators (PIs) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Achieves functional objectives while developing individuals and teams and ensuring team effectiveness, including but not limited to, with process maintenance and definition of team norms.

Hours per Week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops annual work plans used to achieve goals and performance metrics.
  • Participates in leadership activities for the division, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives. Evaluates team performance and defines and maintains internal processes.
  • Leads to cross functional laboratory or organizational process, programs, initiatives, and projects.
  • Establishes customer service standards and addresses operational and customer service escalations regarding laboratory research concerns.
  • Works on highly complex projects and enterprise-wide research initiatives. Serves as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders regarding Laboratory requirements to support protocols and problem-solving related to clinical, logistical, financial and/or regulatory issues, as well as with programs, processes, and best practices.
  • Supports laboratory communications to the organization on research related projects and topics. Maintains effective working relationships with peers, stakeholders, and leadership across the organization.
  • Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction to on-the-job or formal training, and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Accountable for managing entire employee lifecycle of team, including hiring, development, performance management, discipline, and termination.
  • Tracks and trends research volume, revenue, and funds flow for laboratory protocols. Builds and maintains strong understanding of department and organizational research financial data and looks for opportunities to optimize research billing and revenue. Ensures research lab testing has optimized billing protocols established and maintains financial data sets for billing compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulation, as well as with contract, sponsor, organizational standards and/or Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol.
  • Monitors overall compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies. Accountable for the development, implementation, maintenance and adherence of departmental research strategies, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and decision makers to foster collaboration in research operations, planning, budgeting, strategy, and communications across the enterprise. Conceptualizes, articulates, and gains support for a variety of initiatives and programs.
  • Partners with physician and laboratory leadership for business development and growth involving research at both a local and national level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or other related field

  • Experience: Four (4) years' experience working in a clinical laboratory, with two of those years with leadership experience. With expert knowledge in clinical research operations and regulatory requirements.

  • Equivalency: Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree.

  • Certification(s): Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $84,558.69 to $126,838.03
