Your Opportunity + Impact

The Senior Interior Designer - Federal applies advanced interior design principles to all project phases, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. This role involves extensive collaboration with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure cohesive and innovative design solutions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Senior Interior Designer - Federal leverages their expertise to make critical project decisions, drive design excellence, and contribute meaningfully to the success of each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads design efforts for Department of Defense DoD projects (Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines) with a wide variety of project scopes, budgets and is responsible for the interior design product that represents the client's vision.
  • Meets with clients to develop design elements and finish palette within project scope and budget (SID Package).
  • Coordinates and/or prepares presentation items for client review and approvals.
  • Responsible for the coordination or designs of the furniture selections for the project (CID package).
  • Prepares and/or coordinates the development of all phases of construction documents.
  • Creates presentation materials for client review and approval using color boards or other various computer programs.
  • Attends site visits to interview user groupd analyze space availability, design needs, and purpose of the space.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines, including architecture, engineering, and consultants.
  • Stays up to date with design trends, products, and technologies.
  • Provides guidance, training, and support to other interior design associates and interns, helping them develop technical skills, design intuition, and professional growth.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years' experience, preferably in the A/E Federal industry.
  • Licensure/Certification: NCIDQ certificate (required), LEED certificate (preferred). Membership with IIDA (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the interior design field.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
