The Opportunity The College of Aviation (COA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)-Daytona Beach invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track), Department of Aviation Maintenance Science. The College seeks a dynamic individual with significant practical and academic experience in the Aviation Maintenance Science (AMS) discipline to teach in the second largest department within the COA. This 9-month Assistant Professor appointment is at our campus in Daytona Beach, FL. Click here to take a virtual tour of the Daytona Beach Campus! Reporting to the Department Chair of Aviation Maintenance Sciences, the faculty member will lecture, oversee laboratory instruction, aid in maintaining departmental training equipment, collaborate with university faculty, and provide student-centric instruction. They will support their students through mentorship. Faculty in the department will be expected to embrace new teaching methods and support innovation. The successful candidate will embrace an active safety management system (SMS) within the department. This position also serves as the Maintenance Manager for the Engine Repair Station under direction of the Chief Inspector, and oversees operations within the Engine Repair Station. Key responsibilities include ensuring FAA compliance, managing maintenance records and staffing, verifying technician qualifications, maintaining equipment and shop standards, overseeing parts handling and service documentation, approving purchases, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet regulatory and customer requirements. About the Department of Aviation Maintenance Science COA has an FAA-approved Part 145 Engine Overhaul Repair Station contained within the AMS degree program. This provides students with a rigorous curriculum and excellent opportunities for career advancement. The AMS program at ERAU is taught by dedicated faculty who are collaborative, student-focused and intellectually curious.
