Position Overview

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Instructional Designer and Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator supports faculty, staff, and students in the effective use of the College's learning management system, the student portal, and other instructional technologies. This in-person position, located on the ENMU-Ruidoso campus, focuses on providing training, design guidance, and technical support that enhance the quality, accessibility, and consistency of digital learning. The position assists faculty with instructional design, manages retention and assessment tools, ensures compliance with quality standards, and serves as backup administrator for the institutional website. The position works closely with faculty, staff, and IT personnel to support student success and improve the overall digital learning experience.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer and maintain the LMS, including course shells, templates, and overall organization.
  • Provide training and individualized support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of the LMS and related instructional technologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and revise high-quality online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
  • Create and implement templates, tools, and design resources to promote consistency and best practices across courses.
  • Support the integration of multimedia, video, and interactive content to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Monitor and assist with LMS student success tools.
  • Administer and report on course evaluations within the LMS.
  • Manage and maintain the student portal, ensuring accurate information, consistent presentation, and reliable system functionality.
  • Provide backup support for the College website, including content updates, troubleshooting, and coordination with IT.
  • Develop and deliver user guides, tutorials, and workshops to increase faculty and staff confidence with digital tools.
  • Troubleshoot LMS, portal, and website-related issues in coordination with IT and external vendors.
  • Stay informed on emerging instructional technologies and recommend practical, effective solutions for adoption.
  • Ensure accessibility, usability, and quality standards are met in all digital learning environments.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Academic Affairs, and IT to align digital platforms with institutional goals and student success initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in instructional design and digital learning.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in instructional design or LMS administration, with direct experience supporting faculty and students

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or related field.
  • Experience managing or supporting a student portal or website content management system.
  • Strong knowledge of Canvas.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, training, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate solutions with IT.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines. Work is sedentary in nature, which at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
