PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Maintains employee master files on Payroll Computer System to ensure processing of payroll accurately, promptly, and securely for all services rendered to CCH.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains employees' Workday and UKG Pro Pay files to ensure accurate pay for all services rendered to Christiana Care Health Systems employees.

  • Interprets Christiana Care Health Systems' pay practice and procedures to provide CCHS employees with a clear explanation of pay computations.

  • Maintains employee files for voluntary and involuntary payroll deductions, Federal and State tax withholding.

  • Performs an audit of completed timecards to identify potential pay errors and ensure compliance with CCH policy.

  • Performs an audit of system-calculated earnings, contacts department heads to relate audit findings, and gives instructions for processing required pay adjustments. Reports any policy violations to the payroll leadership team.

  • Responsible for verification of the signing of paychecks, maintains the check number control log, verifies the payroll system control report, and delivers paper checks to the CCH Mail Room.

  • Processes on-demand checks or pay adjustments, adhering to pay computation procedures.

  • Processes on-demand checks, requests for duplicate W-2 forms, memos, letters, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office products.

  • Complete Payroll and Expenses Settlement process as required.

  • Prepares payroll reports for Payable and departments as required.

  • Research employees' pay history to determine compliance with CCHS pay policies as required.

  • Replies to inquiries for salary information, employment verifications, and responds to third-party garnishments from outside agencies in a timely manner.

SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY

  • Frequent contact with all levels of CCHS personnel relating to earnings, deductions, timekeeping, or pay policy information. Frequent contact with outside organizations requesting payroll data for specific employees.

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Payroll Supervisor, Manager, and Director of Disbursements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate with a bookkeeping and/or accounting background.

  • One-year previous payroll experience with emphasis on statistical computation.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of CCHS timekeeping policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of CCHS policies that pertain to payroll processing.

  • Knowledge of tax withholding regulations.

  • Knowledge of Wage and Hour regulations.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State garnishment regulations.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of payroll processing.

  • Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.

Hourly Pay Range: $23.85 - $35.78 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
