About the Job Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Diagnostic Team Leader, performs a variety of diagnostic Procedures with technical expertise and competency. Understand the daily operations of all radiographic equipment and departmental flow to obtain optimal imaging and patient care for diagnosis and measure of disease.
What you will do
- Performs and assists in various general diagnostic procedures that produce optimal imaging with diagnostic quality according to the department's policy and procedures daily.
- Follows standards for routine diagnostic exams, positioning, patient care and documentation as prescribed in the procedure manual set forth by the imaging department.
- Provide optimal diagnostic imaging and radiation safety for the purpose of diagnostic interpretation
- Selects the appropriate technical factors, safety devices, and operates all imaging equipment as directed
- Assists with orienting and training all radiology students, new employees,
- Maintains constant attention to patient assigned to the technologist
- Identifies Processes Transfers and Archives all patient exams. Maintains all records in accordance with Hospital and Regulatory policy.
- Responsible for proper identification on all exam records and images including patient demographics
- Maintains all HIPAA regulations and policies regarding patient info
- Maintains appropriate records of patient examinations
- Maintains the integrity and security of the Radiology Information System and all other hospital computer systems
- Adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and regulations regarding patient and operator protection, collimation, and shielding.
- Ensures dosimeter badge is worn while he/she is working in the imaging department.
- Document and record the (DAP) Dose Area Product
- Provide radiation protection in accordance with all safety standards and the principle of ALARA to ensure the well-being of patients, hospital personnel, and the general public and while performing any duties
- Conducts self in a professional manner.
- Refers to the Diagnostic Team Leader for any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline, and other activities
- Promotes professionalism, continuing education, and staff development
- Participates in the formal in-service program governed by the Radiology Department
- Subject to covering call for holidays.
- Responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for this position
- Complete all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education are required annually.
- Obtains at least 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance
- Completes training and in-services presentations required for the Diagnostic Department
- All other duties as assigned
Licenses and Certifications
- Radiology Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - upon hire - Required and
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
Education
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Technical Diploma Radiologic Technology Required
Experience
- At least two (2) years of work experience and/or trained in a CHOP affiliated program Required
- Pediatric Experience Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate knowledge of all forms of diagnostic imaging
- Intermediate knowledge of specific/cross trained area
- Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System
- Able to handle multiple tasks
- Good organizational skills
- Good phone etiquette and communication skills

- Responsible for maintaining the continuing education required for this position

$15.00 - $507.00 Hourly
