POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and other facilities. This position oversees all maintenance activities assuring corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervision of Maintenance Staff: The supervisor manages a team of maintenance workers, assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring that all maintenance activities are performed efficiently and safely.
  • Facility Upkeep: They are responsible for the overall maintenance of buildings, including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general repairs. This includes conducting regular inspections to ensure that facilities are in good working condition.
  • Budget Management: The supervisor manages the budget for maintenance and repairs, ensuring that expenditures are within limits and that resources are allocated effectively.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations is a critical duty. This includes keeping up with local codes and standards.
  • Project Management: They may oversee renovation projects, ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget. This includes coordinating with contractors and vendors when necessary.
  • Emergency Response: The supervisor is often required to respond to emergency maintenance issues, which may involve after-hours work.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining records of maintenance activities, preparing reports, and documenting compliance with safety standards are also part of the role.
  • Manage and track preventative maintenance and repairs on machinery for all facilities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Suggest improvements to the frequency of the preventative maintenance system to improve equipment performance. Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Generate repair work orders and perform maintenance repairs as needed. Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Assign repairs to outside contractors as needed and ensure work is performed as specified.
  • Create charts and graphs tracking planned and unplanned downtime, predictive maintenance, etc. for management and external parties.
  • Controls Spare Spending and oversees ordering and inventory control of spare parts for machinery and equipment.
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
  • Source suppliers for maintenance service and parts.
  • Replace, empty, or replenish machine and equipment containers such as gas tanks or boxes.
  • Serve as maintenance support and share expertise with the technical team and others.
  • Follow-up on maintenance procedures and apply best practices.
  • Assure corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure the proper operation of equipment and machinery avoiding downtime for failure and/or breakdowns.
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the facility and other buildings.
  • Oversee and direct the activities of maintenance employees; select, train and communicate job expectations.
  • Resolve personnel problems and complaints when possible; counsel and discipline employees.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and departmental goals and objectives
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Adhere to EHS and IATF 16949 Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of various maintenance processes, including plumbing, and electrical systems is essential.
  • Leadership skills - The ability to lead and motivate a team is crucial for effective management.
  • Problem solving: Quick thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary to address maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Communication skills: strong communication skills are important for coordinating with staff and reporting to upper management.
  • Ability to proficiently use various company-related and external systems and databases.
  • Ability to design complete solutions as needed for various equipment.
  • Ability to proficiently use computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal/external personnel, customers, vendors and suppliers. Ability to proficiently operate office technology and equipment (e.g., computer systems).
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet time sensitive deadline

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; or graduation from a technical/trade school.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of hands-on experience with preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years supervisory experience.
  • Must have good math skills and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric.
  • Must have knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with computers and demonstrated skills in office applications such as MS Word, and Outlook

The employee is frequently required to use hands, handle or feet. The employee must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting and/or moving light objects up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals.
