The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Facilities Technician II. The Facilities Technician II supports daily facility operations and assists with ensuring the site is meeting the needs of employees and production in a 24/7 production environment. Working on tasks/projects as directed by Facilities Lead. Work includes but is not limited to; facilities equipment, building controls, fire protection systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, dehumidification, compressed air, etc. Facilities Technician 2 preforms preventive maintenance, inspections and tests of machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions, assists with the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and the installation of new or repaired parts, and ensures building and grounds are properly maintained.

This position is located in Rochester, NY.

Work Schedule: This is an A shift position (some on call and off shift coverage required)

The Responsibilities
  • Repairs and performs preventive maintenance on facilities equipment including building controls, fire protection systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, dehumidification, compressed air, purified water, industrial vacuum systems, and plumbing.

  • Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems. Inspects and tests machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions.

  • Utilizes building management systems to maintain conditions and energy efficiency.

  • Supports maintenance of building and grounds.

  • Works with both internal staff and skilled trade vendors. May handle repair work and small projects individually or with others.

  • Utilizes computerized maintenance management system for work orders and preventive maintenance entries.

  • Completes maintenance logs, part requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection records and other required maintenance documentation per Quality requirements.

  • Supports facility related projects, including equipment installation or upgrades, mechanical systems maintenance,

The Individual

Required Skills:

  • AAS degree in HVAC, related technology or equivalent training / experience.

  • 5-10 years of experience in facilities equipment maintenance.

  • Knowledge and experience with electrical distribution, steam, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum and water systems.

  • Ability to handle multiple activities, demands and urgent responses throughout the day to maintain uptime and production.

  • Able to be on call 7/24 on a rotating basis.

  • Good verbal and written communications skills to keep team and internal departments informed.

  • Required Travel: Less than 5% domestic travel

External Partners: Kodak, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Arbon, multiple vendors

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Up to 75% of the time you will be, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The hourly range for this position is $45,000.00 to $57,000.00 . QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
