The Director of Data & AI Value and Governance leads the development and implementation of comprehensive frameworks that enable responsible data activation and AI adoption while driving measurable business value. This leader balances risk management with strategic growth, designing governance practices and control frameworks that build confidence with Compliance, Risk Management, Information Security, second-line risk functions, internal audit, and banking regulators. This team provides enabling capabilities to business and finance partners to ensure accurate projection and measurement of expected ROI on developed and vendor purchased AI capabilities.
About This Role:
- Lead, manage and grow assigned team of technology resources supporting Data Governance, Data Management and AI practices and processes to ensure transparency and trust around our growing AI production use cases. This team will also be responsible for enabling the Archer AI Governance Module and integrating use case intake, scoring and model details.
- This position chairs the Generative AI Steering Group, facilitating intake processes, risk assessments, and approval decisions for new AI use cases across the enterprise.Establish a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation, and personal growth fostering a fail fast and learn fast environment
- Partners closely with Finance and business partners to build and mature ROI and metrics practices ensuring accurate representation and delivery of planned ROI. This includes business case development and ongoing review to measure effectiveness.
- Work closely with the AI development teams on standards for Observability and Evaluations on AI capabilities.
- Drives ongoing maturity in cataloging and tagging FNBO data assets.
- Develop AI and Data Literacy campaigns and practices to measure maturity and progress.
- Collaborates extensively with second-line risk functions including Compliance, Risk Management, and Information Security to ensure governance frameworks align with risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
- Serves as liaison to Compliance, Risk Management, and Information Security on AI governance matters, translating technical capabilities into risk implications and ensuring governance controls address identified risks appropriately. Also partners with these functions to prepare for regulatory examinations, providing documentation and practices details.
- Drives continuous improvement of governance frameworks through engagement with industry working groups, regulatory forums, and peer institutions to understand emerging practices and regulatory expectations.
Conduct regular reviews with Strategic Bank vendors to understand their AI roadmaps and ensure transparency into their solutions. The Ideal Candidate for This Role: The right candidate for this role:

Required:
- Bachelors' degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in technology leadership with a preferred experience with data and AI and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience working in regulated environments and proven results
- Highly structured and results oriented
- Success in managing and developing high-performing technology teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others
- Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting practices
Desired:
- Experience in Financial Services or another highly regulated field
- Certification in Change Management (Prosci, ADKAR) or Project Management (PMP, Agile)
- Experience working with Data in different capacities
Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.
Compensation:
Compensation range (base pay): $133,975.00-$227,758.00
This role may have a specific starting pay within this range. Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level. Work Environment:
