Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $117,415 to $190,201. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Description:

Position Summary
The Clinical Psychologist/Researcher at Mile Square will design, conduct and evaluate research as a principal or co-investigator (PI), or contributing research scientist. The Clinical Psychologist/Researcher will propose new lines of investigation to discover, create, and explore new opportunities in specific areas that include but are not limited to: Medicine, health disparities, pharmacology, quality assurance and patient safety. Clinical psychologist researchers will take a proactive role in obtaining external research funding and may contribute topical expertise for medical student, residency and community education. The expectation is that the psychologist will devote at least 50% time to research and 50% time to clinical activities. Clinical activities include direct patient care through individual and group counseling. The clinical psychologist will need to be comfortable and competent in providing care to all ages and stages as well as various mental health conditions including substance use disorders.

The clinical responsibilities of this role will report to the Senior Director of Behavioral Health & Addiction, while the research responsibilities will fall under the Chief of Population Health Research and Evaluation.

This role splits time between Mile Square Health Center's Rockford and Cicero locations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Independently propose, design and execute research projects and protocols.
  • Help design and refine MSHC research protocols (e.g., publication processes).
  • Conduct and/or design in research and service/quality improvement program evaluation.
  • Prepare project reports (e.g., progress, annual, and final reports).
  • Collaborate with Mile Square staff and providers on proposed and ongoing projects.
  • Identify, develop, and seek funding for projects of interest to ensure position coverage.
  • Participate in health center and council meetings.
  • Participates in professional/career development activities as appropriate (e.g., takes classes to enhance expertise in assigned content areas, attends conferences, co-authors research manuscripts).
  • Provide direct supervision to research team members.
  • Prepare and review patient profiles through patient examination and medical history obtainment from patient, parents, and guardians.
  • Participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Discuss findings and recommendations with client, parents, agencies, etc. as needed.
  • Manage patient medication (includes but is not limited to writing prescriptions, monitoring efficacy, monitoring adverse reactions).
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from an ACGME/AOGME accredited medical college. Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Pediatrics.
    • Track record of writing and securing grant funding to support research.
    • Experience in writing and preparing manuscripts and chapters for peer review journals and books. Established publication record in peer reviewed journals.
    • Experience designing and conducting population health research ( e.g., quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods, data analysis, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, research design)
    • Documented research experience in a community-based setting.
    • Current Valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • MS or MPH preferred.
