About the Job

This is a 2-year, grant funded position; employment beyond the initial 2 years is dependent on obtaining additional funding.

Description of Position:
The Spectrum of Care Clinic will provide DVM students with robust clinical training and primary case management experience. The Clinic Manager for this clinic helps coordinate and oversee daily operations for the clinic, working closely with ASA and the VMC to fulfill job duties.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated leader with strong knowledge of patient care, equipment and procedure in a clinic environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic academic environment and possess a strong passion for mentorship and program development.

Essential Functions:
60% operations,
Working as a back-up for the Lead Technician and Client Services Specialist
Work with Lead Technician and Customer Services Lead to implement protocols enhancing patient services
Work with Veterinary Medical Center and Lead Technician to manage inventory, supplies
Understand finance reports and make recommendations to capture revenue
Coordinate maintenance and repairs with UMN Facilities as needed
Develop and implement process improvement protocols to ensure continual evaluation and enhancement of clinic processes.
Mentor students and work with those working in the clinic to support teaching.
Work with other supervisors on patient flow, referrals and shared processes
Provide feedback to staff in day to day activities of the clinic including performance reviews and ongoing management tasks.
Participate in topic rounds with veterinary students relating to areas such as production, finances, and sustainable business practices.
Primary on-site point of contact for escalated client concerns. Works closely with Veterinary Medical Center staff to coordinate responses and address needs.

30% project management,
Coordinate regulatory compliance efforts
Work with the Marketing Department to develop and implement strategies for client recruitment and retention.

10% staffing
Coordinate hiring, training, and staff schedules

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS plus at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years.
Graduate of an accredited veterinary technician program and certified/licensed in MN

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to manage a diverse team with strong leadership, coaching, and motivational skills.
3-5 years of experience overseeing operations in a veterinary clinical setting.
Experience growing a veterinary practice.
Experience managing inventory, budgets, and financial statements.

What is the Spectrum of Care clinic?

Spectrum of Care is an emerging pedagogy to intentionally teach clinical problem solving, flexible treatment plans and contextualized care. Many seasoned general practitioners already practice this way, but it is a learning gap that has been identified at teaching institutions. The Spectrum of Care Clinic at UMN is a teaching clinic designed to provide clinical year veterinary students primary case responsibility with a broad range of clinical presentations outside the walls of a tertiary referral center.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $28/hr to $36/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment:100% Appointment
