Key Position Details:

Job Description:

Health Informatics integrates health science with multiple information and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage and communicate data, information, knowledge and wisdom in nursing practice. Health Informatics supports the company's vision for Whole Person Care through the pursuit of maintaining and improving the information systems in a manner that is reliable and unobtrusive, preserving and promoting therapeutic relationships and improved clinical outcomes.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Clinical and information systems
    • Provide support to patient care and operational areas in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient, effective clinical information and operational systems.
    • Actively seek opportunities to assess and evaluate systems and effectiveness for end-users as it relates to ease of use/workflow process, alignment with clinical practice and promotion of positive patient care outcomes. Leverage research and external searches.
    • Perform data analysis on performance and utilization of alerts, order sets, and patient outcomes to evaluate effectiveness of interventions and opportunities for optimization. Develop reports, spreadsheets, and databases using a variety of tools using data from multiple sources.
    • Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing operation and optimization of clinical decision-making systems and processes and information systems that support effective, efficient, safe, timely, equitable and patient-centered care.
  • Performance Improvement
    • Utilize the vision of whole person care, the principles of high reliability, and the nursing model of relationship-based care to shape future/ideal state designs.
    • Lead informatics improvement projects under coaching direction from the Senior or Lead.
    • Participate/lead in other projects pertaining to organizational goals and strategies and regulatory requirements - both in consultative and project lead roles.
    • Utilizes business analysis skills and creativity to design and facilitate collaborative, cross-functional sessions in current/future state workflow mapping, gap and root cause analysis, problem/process definition and solution options, user research and user stories, backlog management, prototyping, background research and planning methodology.
    • Designs and refines team analysis processes and improvement tools in collaboration with the team.
    • Evaluates usability and end-user solutions.
    • Provide consultative informatics services to clinical and operational team members.
    • Utilizes change management principles to support humans through the change process and the improvements.
    • Supports the achievement of an integrated plan that includes company strategies.
  • Communication
    • Communicates concepts and ideas in a way that matches the audience's level of understanding.
    • Chooses appropriate communication methods.
    • Promotes candor and diverse opinions.
    • Deliver tough messages with respect and care.
    • Uses positive influence to build a broad base of support for change.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality
    • Follows relevant compliance regulations, guidelines and policies related to documentation and billing in daily work activities.
    • Meets requirements for annual compliance education.
    • Understands the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of the content and medical record.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 0 to 2 years as business analyst and/or health informaticist supporting EPIC applications experience in Inpatient or Ambulatory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in information systems, business, organizational change, sciences or liberal arts
  • 0 to 2 years of experience facilitating workflow sessions, identifying root cause, support action plan for execution. This could be PDSA, Waterfall, and/or Agile

Licenses/Certifications

  • EPIC Certifications/Proficiency required
  • Quality Improvement/Process Improvement/Change Management Certifications preferred
  • UZ Design/Usability/Information/Visualization Certifications Knowledge or experience with the science of human/computer interface, presenting information in its most accessible forms preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $28.67 to $39.29 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
