Overview

Are you a highly skilled IT professional with infrastructure operations experience looking for a leadership position with a variety of responsibilities? We have an opening that will allow you to utilize your technical expertise and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment leading the Compute Engineering Teams that focus on designing and automating Esri's Private Cloud, custom lab environments, and enclaves.

Responsibilities



  • Lead a diverse team supporting Private Cloud Virtualization, Servers, Storage, and Linux platforms
  • Design and deploy equipment, application, and services across virtual and physical environments
  • Identify and implement improvements for deployment and maintenance of physical and virtual hardware
  • Focus on self-fulfillment of resources and services
  • Look for opportunities to optimize performance and overcome bottlenecks
  • Review and provide technical approval for change requests
  • Be proactive in recognizing and handling uptime and performance challenges
  • Automating using infrastructure as a code
  • Collaborate with IT teams to define and develop documented policies, procedures, and processes such as operational run books and system monitoring
  • Provide purchase justifications and project benefit analysis
  • Make presentations to executive team, colleagues, and professional peers
  • Grow vendor relationships to support new product acquisition, maintenance agreements, and education opportunities
  • Assist with daily operations as needed to support the team
  • Participate in on-call, afterhours support rotation
  • Shift left and partner on security initiatives


Requirements



  • 5+ years of infrastructure operations experience including enterprise class server, storage, and virtualization platforms
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Powershell, Javascript, Python
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with platform hardware and OS level support
  • Capable of writing proposals, procedures, policies, and technical documentation
  • Experience with Windows Server and Linux distributions (Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE, and variants)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management
  • Capable of assisting with the design of infrastructure projects
  • Bachelor's in computer science or related field


Recommended Qualifications



  • Experience with:

    • VMware vCenter, vSphere, and the vRealize suite of applications
    • Windows Server including clustering, file serving, and Hyper-V
    • End user computing with VMware Horizon or Citrix
    • NetApp, IBM, and Nexenta or other enterprise class storage
    • Data Protection software such as Commvault Simpana/Metallic


  • Vendor product evaluations (hardware, software, service providers)
  • Familiarity with public cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
  • Familiarity with container technology
  • Development experience with ServiceNow and operating a CMDB is a plus

$81,120 $166,400 USD
