Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Integration & Automation Engineer in our Chantilly, VA office in support of our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated and high-performing team. As a DevOps and Automation expert responsible for guiding tenants from an approved architecture into an operational environment, your focus is on ensuring tenants implement resilient solutions by leveraging OpenStack-native Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Ansible, and robust CI/CD pipelines. What you'll do:

    RHOSP Integration & Resiliency
    • Collaborate directly with tenant development teams to design and implement CI/CD pipelines that automate the provisioning and deployment of their workloads onto RHOSP within our system private cloud infrastructure.
    • Develop and maintain modular OpenStack IaC templates using Heat and general automation with Ansible to codify the private cloud's reference architectures.
    • Ensure all tenant deployments incorporate cloud resiliency principles tailored to OpenStack, such as utilizing Nova availability zones and Cinder volume groups.
  • RHEL/OS Security and Compliance Automation
    • Guide tenants on configuring user management, key pairs, and security groups within RHOSP and applying security hardening best practices on their tenant-level RHEL instances.
  • Integrate automated configuration management (Ansible) for tenant OS deployments.
  • Collaborate with program system architects and engineers along with our government customer
  • Maintain partnership with Red Hat vendor to stay up to date with the latest advancements in Red Hat products and industry best practices to maintain effective and innovative infrastructures


Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • This position requires the candidate to possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Associates degree and 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; OR bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; or a master's degree in computer science, cloud computing, or related field and 6+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Meet DoD 8140 foundational requirements for a System Developer with a proficiency of advanced.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps or Automation Engineering role in a cloud environment.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSP) APIs and services
  • Expert level proficiency with Ansible (for both infrastructure and configuration management) and experience with OpenStack Heat templates.
  • Strong skills in scripting languages such as Python (specifically for OpenStack SDK interaction).
  • Proficiency in Linux systems administration, cloud computing, and virtualization, with a strong understanding of both public and private cloud environments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills in coordination with customers / tenants

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and demonstrable experience with OpenShift Container Platform
  • A solid grasp of enterprise networking, firewalls, and security best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize performance.
  • Ability to learn independently, adapt to an evolving environment, and stay current with industry trends.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
