Description The SKW Public Health Associate coordinates evaluation and monitoring of Safe Kids Worldwide initiatives, developing and maintaining program logic models. In collaboration with the Chief Research, Programs and Medical Officers, coordinates efforts to strengthen Safe Kids Worldwide ability to demonstrate impact. Conducts literature reviews to guide program enhancement. Consults with and supports programs, communications, advocacy, development and networks staff on evaluation/monitoring needs and programmatic direction. Acts as liaison between Research and Program teams to ensure programs are data driven, evidence-informed and measurable. Participates in planning a biennial conference on childhood injury prevention and assists with other meetings as needed. Domestic travel may be required. This position is based in Washington, DC and is not remote eligible.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Education/Promotion or Program Evaluation (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years to 7 years of related progressive experience with program and evaluation design and implementation which includes some professional technical writing experience (Required)

Demonstrated experience as an author of at least one peer-reviewed publication and public speaking, conference or/event planning experience. (preferred)

Ability to effectively communicate the mission of the organization and articulate the impact of injury prevention programs

Functional Accountabilities
Coordinates program planning, evaluation and monitoring activities for SKW initiatives.

  • Oversees development and maintenance of logic models related to SKW programming.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of evidence-informed implementation guides in collaboration with programs team.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Research Officer, selects and refines evaluation measures, designs evaluation instruments and works with the programs department to build and implement program evaluations.
  • Works with the programs department to monitor program outputs and impacts and write-up results.
  • Co-authors articles based on SKW program evaluations.
  • Reviews information on existing prevention programs and evaluates its usefulness to SKW.
  • Provides evaluation and monitoring support to Programs, Development, Advocacy, Network and Communications teams.

Ensures technical accuracy of SKW initiatives with a focus on evaluation and monitoring.

  • Reviews published articles in injury prevention field to inform SKW initiatives.
  • Provides strategies and assistance to develop evaluation measures for injury prevention programs and advocacy initiatives.
  • Consults with staff managing programs on evaluation needs and programmatic direction and monitoring.

Fosters Collaboration with External Partners.

  • Represents Safe Kids Worldwide as an alternate on research and academic committees and advisory groups where evaluation and monitoring are a focus, as well as at professional meetings and conferences, to offer injury prevention expertise and promote Safe Kids Worldwide program evaluation activities
  • Works collaboratively with staff, major sponsors, agency representatives, and outside partners to facilitate flow of information and foster strong working relationships.
  • Works with Chief Research and Medical Officers to strengthen SKW program planning and evaluation capacity through strategic partnerships.

Evaluates resource materials for suitability of dissemination and conducts conference presentations.

  • Coordinates and gathers data and information for SKW resources and products.
  • Coordinates and presents SKW information to coalition leaders, sponsors, and other partners.
  • Provides leadership and assistance for capacity building activities aimed at increasing impact including contributing to program development for the SKW biennial conference.

Monitor and facilitate papers and presentations documenting SKW program evaluation findings.

  • Monitors scholarly journals to increase knowledge base in current evidence-based practices across priority risk areas.
  • Authors/co-authors papers and presentations documenting SKW program evaluation findings for submission to peer-reviewed scholarly journals and academic conferences.
  • Presents SKW program evaluation findings to Coalition Coordinators, sponsors and other partners within the public health community.
