Summary of Position: Nine-month tenure-track faculty position, which includes teaching and related responsibilities in the newly developed exercise science program. Responsibilities include developing, preparing and delivering lectures in face-to-face courses, preparing, administering, and grading assignments and examinations; advising students on related academic matters; engaging in scholarly activities and professional development; and serving on departmental and faculty committees to promote curriculum development with the College of Health Professions. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2026 at the earliest, and January of 2027 at the latest.

Required Education: Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of two years work experience (in higher education or working in the discipline).

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Previous experience in higher education which includes teaching, established scholarship in discipline, leadership and professional service.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Providing classroom, online and off campus instruction as assigned.

Participating in curriculum development, program evaluation and accreditation compliance.

Active engagement in assessment of student learning and its related analysis and improvement process.

Serve as academic advisor for students in the assigned program.

Maintain active engagement in professional responsibilities that may also include continuing professional development, participation in university committees and traditional activities that have academic significance.

Maintain a consistent physical presence on the main campus for the purpose of engagement in the University community and the advancement of the program and college.

Maintain practice currency, service and scholarship responsibilities commensurate with academic rank, and the initiatives and expectations of the program and college.

Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation, and registration of students, participation in university committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
