Overview
Nakupuna Companies is seeking an Environmental Specialist to provide day-to-day environmental compliance support to the Environmental Engineering Branch at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Western Currency Facility (BEP WCF) in Fort Worth, Texas. The Environmental Specialist will focus on environmental compliance reporting, inspections, plan and permit support, and Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation in coordination with the Environmental Engineering team. This position is critical to ensuring that BEP WCF maintains compliance with federal, state, and local environmental requirements while continually improving environmental performance and supporting ISO 14001:2015 EMS implementation.
Responsibilities

Provide specialized environmental compliance and technical support, including regulatory interpretation, data management, and preparation of technical reports.
Complete assigned air, water, and waste compliance reporting, inspection documentation, and permitting support at federal, state, and local levels (e.g., TCEQ, City of Fort Worth, EPA). Assist with maintaining and improving the ISO 14001 EMS, including document control, corrective actions, internal audit support, and management review preparation. Support inspection programs for APCDs, waste handling areas, stormwater, and other environmental compliance areas, including data entry and follow-up tracking. Develop and deliver environmental training content to BEP departments as requested, and maintain rosters and training records. Assist with creation, revision, and maintenance of environmental plans and procedures (e.g., SPCC, waste management, pollution prevention). Perform quality assurance and technical review of assigned project deliverables before submission to the Government. Support data collection and analysis for environmental performance indicators and dashboards. Participate in environmental incident and spill documentation, including collection of required information and support for corrective actions. Perform other environmental compliance and technical support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and requirements in air, water, and waste, with emphasis on Texas and federal programs. Experience supporting and maintaining an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System. Experience preparing or supporting environmental permits and regulatory reports (air, hazardous materials/waste, and wastewater). Familiarity with inspection protocols for air pollution control equipment and hazardous material/waste handling facilities. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with both technical staff and operations personnel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and client-facing interaction. Advanced computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related natural or physical science field. Experience in environmental compliance support and regulatory reporting preferred, ideally in an industrial or federal facility setting.
