Job Summary:

As an emergency care advanced practice provider at New Ulm Medical Center, part of Allina Health, you will work primarily in the emergency department and cover express care as needed.

Key Position Details:

  • Hours/shifts: Sunday evening and Monday through Thursday, day shift. Ability to pick up additional hours if desired during high need. Will have a holiday rotation.
  • Locations: primarily the emergency department, with potential to assist the express care during a crisis. This position is located on the New Ulm Medical Center Campus in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with the physician when the patient need is outside of advanced practice provider's scope, of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff and acts as a resource to members of the team
  • Works with the emergency and urgent care team for program development
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited physician assistant program OR nurse practitioner program

Preferred Qualifications

  • New Graduates may be considered
  • Experience in family practice, internal medicine, urgent or emergency care

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire OR Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Pay Range

Pay Range: $133,120 to $151,008 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
