Our NICU is a Level II, 10-bed unit that provides intensive medical care for premature or critically ill newborn infants, ranging from 32 weeks' gestation to full term. The role involves performing care that requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills, based on the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences in the application of the nursing process.

Nurses in this role utilize high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care that meets holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards. The position also requires the ability to supervise LPNs, CNAs, Techs, Unit Secretaries, and Clinical students. All employees are expected to continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.

Job Description:

RN-NICU-PRN

  • Maintains flexibility and accountability while respecting clinical expertise.

  • Utilizes computer skills for documentation and data analysis.

  • Patient Assessment & Planning

  • Completes and documents initial and ongoing assessments.

  • Develops and updates individualized care plans with measurable goals.

  • Coordinates discharge planning using a multidisciplinary approach.

  • Care Delivery

  • Provides care and performs procedures according to policy and MD orders.

  • Implements patient and family education plans.

  • Facilitates patient flow and monitors staff compliance.

  • Critical Thinking & Safety

  • Responds effectively in emergent situations using sound judgment.

  • Communicates clearly using SBAR and ARCC methods.

  • Promotes patient safety and attention to detail in care delivery.

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.

  • BLS required, new employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.

  • Glucometer Training

  • Aegis Training
